This indicator states whether the system should perform a stock check during serial number assignment. If it should, it also establishes with what type of notification (warning or error) the system reacts in the event of stock inconsistencies with Inventory Management.
- ' ': no stock check
- '1': warning when there is inconsistency
- '2': error when there is inconsistency
Serializing procedure
In the Serializing Procedure screen, you can define how the serial number profile (whether serial number can be maintained or not / optional or mandatory) in each business transaction.
- A business procedure in which you can assign material serial numbers for serialized material. The serialization procedures are bundled in serial number profiles.
- 'SerUsage': Indicator that determines for a business transaction, whether:
- '01' No serial numbers are assigned - '02' Serial numbers can be assigned - '03' Serial numbers must be assigned - '04' Serial numbers are assigned automatically
Entry that determines whether or not an equipment master record should be created for each number when assigning serial numbers.
Material Master
To serialize a material in a plant, you need to assign the serial number profile in material master data (View 'Sales: General/Plant' or 'Plant data/stor.2').

- Serial number processing is linked to status management.
- Only the serial number with proper status can be used in delivery. (E.g. one serial number can only be assigned to one delivery, which means that a serial number cannot be assigned to delivery if it has status 'EDEL'.)
- The status management of serial number belongs to component LO-MD-SN.

In delivery, serial number can be assigned via path: Menu -> Extras -> Serial Numbers. If it is allowed (customized in OIS2) to create serial numbre in delivery, there will be a 'create serial number automatically' button.
Relevant fields in Delivery
LIPS-SERAIL -> serial number profile LIPS-ANZSN -> numbers of serial numbers -> If SN is assigned in delivery, LIPS-ANZSN is filled. After SN is assigned, if you change the delivery quantity, system will check LIPS-ANZSN (delivery quantity must be higher than the ANZSN).

Issue:
The status of a serial number is PIAC (Physical Inventory Active) but the Physical Inventory Process has already been finished. The status of the serial number needs to be fixed.
Solution:
First double check that there is not any active Physical Inventory Document in MI22 for the data you are trying to move. If there is any active document, post the differences for it in MI07.
If the status PIAC remains after posting the differences, then, check the report ZREPSTAT of the Note 369501.
